As a follow-up of the report, "A life I never chose," Agder Research and the University of Agder invite you to a one-day conference on Thursday, 25 November, 2010.
Young people on disability is a subject the region of Agder must work together on. Reversing today's trend will require a joint long-term prioritization of children and young people's developmental conditions.
The conference will have a main focus on what local and regional stakeholders can do to reduce the number of young people on disability in Agder. The conference will be solution-oriented with emphasis on early intervention.
The conference is directed toward people who work with or have responsibility for children and young people's growth on the municipal, county and federal levels, as well as others who are interested in regional development and quality of life in Agder. This invitation is extended especially to all municipalities, county councils, county executives, politicians, NAV offices, doctors and special interest groups in Agder.
So that the region can get as much as possible out of the conference, three municipalities of varying size have been challenged ahead of time to state what they believe is important for reducing the number of young people on disability in their municipality. The opinions of pre-school teachers, elementary school teachers, school counselors, school health professionals, PPT and child protection service employees, doctors and dentists in Kristiansand, Grimstad and Gjerstad will be presented during the conference.
In light of what the three municipalities present, central stakeholders from various public offices in Agder will be invited to answer the challenges and propose concrete suggestions for action.
