Mikaela Vasstrøm, Ph.D., (26.07.77) is associate professor at the Department of Global Development and Social Planning at the University of Agder and senior researcher at Agderforskning. Her research interests are about nature and societal relationships in terms of understanding of development and sustainability, and how to create democratic and learning planning processes. Her PhD degree from the University of Copenhagen explored the intersection of nature conservation and rural development, focusing on understanding of sustainability, participatory democracy in planning, and the role of knowledge in such processes. In Agderforskning, her work is centered around aspects of regional and rural development, mainly in relation to new types of governance roles, social learning and innovation.
